Yesterday when I went to see “The Dictator,” I was disappointed by the **SPOILER ALERT** multiple jokes made about Anna Faris’ character for having hairy armpits. I was especially disturbed when the one and only time the audience audibly rejoiced was when her character promised to shave her armpits. It was a jolting reminder that our society is still intolerant towards women who challenge conventional beauty standards — and even more so in a dark room where accountability can be suspended to laugh at crude jokes.
